Instead of being detained, the Evening Report Center (ERC) provides DJS court mandated youth with an uplifting and impactful alternative to detention programs. The ERC reduces the number of youth and young adults detained in Montgomery and Wicomico County by offering lessons on accountability—so that participants can understand the impact of their actions, teaching the repercussions of negative behavior, and ensuring hope and positive thinking. Funding for the ERC is provided by the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services.
Participant Profile: ERC participants are youth between the ages of 12-18 who are required by law to participate in an intervention program.
Breakdown of Services: The ERC provides participants with an enriching and inspiring facility to grow, while presenting them with opportunities to volunteer within their community. The center’s staff pick participants up from school and drop them off at home after dinner and evening activities. Youth interact in group settings, conduct community service projects, and learn how to enhance their competency, social, and life skills.
