The Juvenile Entry Diversion Initiative (JEDI) serves first-time youth offenders in Frederick, Maryland. As a forgiveness program, the 90-day agenda consists of community work and restorative practice programming to prevent JEDI participants from moving forward into the juvenile justice system. If the participant successfully completes the 90-day program, their juvenile record remains clean. Funding for JEDI is provided by the Governor’s Office of Crime Control and Prevention and Maryland Department of Juvenile Services.
Participant Profile: JEDI participants are residents of Frederick, MD who are between the ages of 10-18 and are in need of a diversion initiative to help them move past their initial misdemeanor.
Breakdown of Services: Staff teach the JEDI participants how to put their talents to use and how to course correct so they can find success within their self and in their community.
