Lead4Life News: Opening of the Bridge

Lead4Life is proud to announce its new partnership with the Somerset County Department of Health as the contracted service provider for the Emergency Youth Shelter, known as “The Bridge.” This collaboration marks an exciting milestone in our commitment to providing essential services for youth aged 16-24 who are experiencing unstable housing situations. “The Bridge” offers a safe and supportive environment, with seven co-ed beds, where young individuals can access the resources and guidance they need to secure a brighter future.

“The Bridge” serves as a beacon of hope for young people facing housing instability in the Somerset community. Our dedicated team of professionals will provide a range of critical services to help these youth achieve self-sufficiency, empowerment, and long-term stability.

Key services provided by “The Bridge” include:

  1. Case Management: Our experienced staff will work closely with each resident to create individualized plans that address their specific needs, goals, and challenges.
  2. Employment Assistance: To help youth take positive steps toward self-sufficiency, “The Bridge” will provide access to bicycles, enabling them to seek employment opportunities, build essential life skills, and gain a sense of independence.
  3. Life Skills Development: Daily activities are designed to enhance crucial life skills such as budgeting, time management, and communication, ensuring that residents are better prepared to navigate the complexities of adulthood.
  4. Positive Youth Development: “The Bridge” utilizes a positive youth development approach, creating a nurturing environment that fosters personal growth, resilience, and self-esteem among residents.
  5. Restorative Practices: We are committed to promoting restorative practices that emphasize accountability, empathy, and conflict resolution, helping youth to build healthier relationships and conflict resolution skills.

Our ultimate goal is to create a family-like atmosphere within “The Bridge” where young individuals can experience genuine support and encouragement on their journey toward independent living stability.

Lead4Life is excited to take on this responsibility and work collaboratively with the Somerset Department of Health to make a lasting impact on the lives of the youth we serve. By providing comprehensive support, we aim to empower these young individuals to overcome obstacles, develop essential life, social, and competency skills through hands-on activities, and achieve the stability they need to thrive.

“The Bridge” represents a vital step forward in addressing the issue of youth homelessness in Somerset, and we are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of the youth we serve.  If you are interested in volunteering or donating to The Bridge, please contact us at the number below.  Thank you!
